Just as the lockdown hit in March 2020, we were about to begin weekly comedy and improvisation workshops at Union St coworking space in Sheffield city centre. As the world moved onto Zoom we decided to join the party and try out our sessions online.
Our weekly After Work Play online workshops gathered people from across Sheffield and further afield. Participants joined us from Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Colombia and the USA, as well as from across the UK.
Together we danced, laughed and practised the art of being silly. Connecting with strangers from across the world in a playful and creative way brought some much-needed joy and light to all of our lives during a strange and difficult time. We might even say that braving the uncertainty of improvisation games helped us become a little less daunted by the unpredictability of the world around us.
